Copyright Policy

Respect for creators

HearStage is built for artists. Only post music, beats, samples, lyrics, artwork and voices you own or have permission to use. We remove infringing content when we are notified, and we close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Reporting infringement (DMCA notice)

If you believe content on HearStage infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent with:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
  3. The link to the content on HearStage and enough detail for us to find it.
  4. Your name, address, phone number and email.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.

Designated copyright agent: [DMCA AGENT NAME], [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [POSTAL ADDRESS], [COPYRIGHT EMAIL], [PHONE]. Registered with the US Copyright Office: [DMCA REGISTRATION NUMBER].

Outside the US, you can send the same information to the same address; we handle it under local law (for example the EU Digital Services Act and Copyright Directive, the UK, Brazil, India's IT Rules and Copyright Act, and Japan's Provider Liability Limitation Act).

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or you have permission, send a counter-notice to the agent with: your signature; the removed content and where it was; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and phone; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the US, any district where we may be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the notice. We may restore the content in 10 to 14 business days unless the claimant tells us they have started a court action.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that receive repeated valid notices are suspended or closed.

Misuse

False notices or counter-notices can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. §512(f)).

Library beats

Free beats in the official HearStage library are licensed for use inside HearStage only (see the Terms of Service). Please do not register them with content-ID systems or claim them elsewhere.
